Join Our Fun Toddler Classes for Outdoor Exploration

Updated: Oct 25

Are you looking for a way to engage your little ones in the great outdoors? Our toddler classes for Wee Wanderers are designed to spark curiosity and foster a love for nature. These classes provide a perfect blend of fun, learning, and exploration.

Introduce The World Through Sensory Play

Outdoor exploration is crucial for toddlers. It helps them develop physically, emotionally, and socially. Here are some key benefits:

  • Motor Skill Development: Activities like digging, squishing, squeezing, and pouring are excellent for helping little hands improve their motor skills. Your child gains strength and coordination through active play, starting with tummy time to walking and beyond.

  • Emotional Growth: Nature is calming. We live in a loud world, full of so many clicks and beeps. Give your baby's ears a break by spending time outdoors! Hearing the sound of the wind in the trees, or feeling the grass on the ground helps toddlers manage their emotions and reduces stress (it helps parents too).

  • Social Skills: Playing with peers encourages sharing and teamwork. Toddlers learn to communicate and build friendships. Meanwhile, you get to expand your community of people who understand your new parenthood journey.

Exploring the outdoors stimulates curiosity and imagination. Children are naturally inquisitive, and nature provides endless opportunities for discovery. Our goal at Touchy Feely Outdoor Adventures is to facilitate a space that fosters your child's development through play.

What is a Wee Wanderer?

Our Wee Wanderer classes focus on outdoor exploration. Each session is packed with activities that promote learning through play. Here’s what you can expect:

Music time

We start each class with a welcome song. This is a chance for toddlers to start to move their bodies and breath in fresh air. Caregivers are encouraged to help their little ones interact with the musical instruments provided on the group mat.

We will then sing two to three songs that help introduce the theme of the day. Songs will include movements that they caregivers can help them with and an opportunity to learn bounce along. .

Hands-On Activities

After our little ones are ready to explore, we dive into sensory play!

Each week has a theme around which the sensory play is designed - Pirate Treasure Dig, Itsy Bitsy's Journey Up the Spout, Dragon Hunt, and more. Wanderers will embark on their adventure by exploring each of the three sensory stations set up in the park. These stations will give them a chance to explore an array of textures and materials encompassing one aspect of their journey.

Safety First

Safety is our top priority. We ensure that all activities are age-appropriate and supervised. Our instructors are trained to handle any situation.

We also teach toddlers about safety in nature. For example, we explain the importance of not touching certain plants or insects. This helps them learn respect for the environment.

How to Get Involved

Getting involved in our toddler classes is easy! Here’s how you can join the fun:

  1. Sign Up: Visit our website to find class schedules and registration details.

  2. Prepare for Class: Dress your toddler in weather appropriate clothing, including rain gear and a hat as needed. Walkers should wear outside shoes. Mats are provided so non-walkers do not need shoes. Sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended, as are a water bottle and snack.

  3. Join the Adventure: Come ready to explore! Your participation makes the experience even more enjoyable for your child.

The Joy of Learning Through Play

Learning through play is essential for toddlers. Our classes provide a safe and nurturing environment for exploration.

When toddlers engage with nature, they learn valuable lessons. They discover the world around them and develop a sense of wonder.

Encouraging Curiosity

Curiosity is a natural trait in toddlers. Our classes encourage this curiosity by providing opportunities for exploration.

For example, if a toddler finds a ladybug, we take a moment to observe it. We might ask questions like, “What do you think the ladybug is doing?” This encourages critical thinking and observation skills.

Building Confidence

Outdoor exploration also builds confidence. As toddlers try new activities, they learn to trust their abilities.

Whether it’s making a mud pie or waving a stick, each new success boosts their self-esteem.

The Role of Caregivers

Caregivers play a vital role in outdoor exploration. Here are some ways you can support your toddler’s learning:

  • Be their narrator: Talk to your wanderer about what they are interacting with. Giving them words to link to their sensations helps them learn to better communicate with you. Extra points for creative narrators - pirate voices, classic hero's tale, squeaky and squeaky mice are all lots of fun!

  • Join in the Fun: Participate in outdoor activities with your child. This strengthens your bond and makes learning enjoyable.

  • Create a Nature-Friendly Home: Incorporate nature into your home life. Consider starting a small garden or going on walks as a family.

The Benefits of Group Learning

Group learning is beneficial for toddlers. It allows them to interact with peers and learn from one another.

In our classes, toddlers share their discoveries. This sharing fosters a sense of community and belonging.

Learning from Each Other

When toddlers see their peers engaging with nature, they are inspired to do the same. For example, if one child finds a unique rock, others may want to search for their own.

This collaborative learning experience enhances their understanding of the world.

Making Memories

Outdoor exploration creates lasting memories. The experiences toddlers have in our classes will stay with them for years to come.

Whether it’s the thrill of finding a ladybug or the joy of planting a seed, these moments are special.

Capturing the Experience

We encourage parents to take photos during classes. Capturing these moments helps create a visual memory book.

You can look back on these photos and share stories about your child’s adventures.
